Here are some of our tips about how to look after your jewellery
All of Sharon Mckinley's jewellery is hand-made and requires delicate handling. In order to keep your jewellery in the best condition, please follow a few simple steps:
. Silver jewellery will tarnish over time and wear, so store out of direct sunlight when you are not wearing an item to slow this process down and protect your jewellery.
. Where possible, when not wearing your jewellery, store in the box provided or similar i.e. a jewellery box or the reusable velvet bag we provide at point of sale. Try to keep individual pieces separate to avoid scratching and tangled.
. It is good to polish frequently with a soft dry cloth to avoid tarnish and retain lustre. Should your piece become tarnished then clean with a silver cloth which you can purchase from most jewellery/department stores.
. To bring back sparkle from gemstones use warm water, a small amount of washing up liquid and a soft small brush, take care not to scratch the silver and rinse thoroughly, dry in natural sunlight to aid the cleansing process. for more information on cleaning stones please click here
. Avoid contact with perfume, creams, body oils and deodorants, they may contain abrasive chemicals that will tarnish and discolour your jewellery.
. To keep the condition of your jewellery looking like new remove when showering, swimming in pools with chlorinated water and the sea or when undertaking manual or domestic work.
. Following these simple steps will ensure the look of your jewellery is prolonged and your enjoyment and wear is extended.
